Natural Hair Journey: TWA
Hi, hi 👋🏾 I hope you are having a great day! In this post, I will share a popular style called TWA.
So, what exactly is TWA?
You know that cute short hairstyle you see on most people, shorter than a pixie? Yep! That's TWA, which stands for Teeny Weeny Afro. It's also referred to as 'very tiny afro.' Unlike the pixie, TWA is what you get after the big chop, making it a specific type of short natural hair that is typically one to three inches long.
Many people think you can't style a teeny weeny afro, but you can. Some prefer to get their hair tapered and use hair products to define their curls/coils, while others dye their hair, combine the three, or wear a wig. My point is there's something for everyone.
My go-to style was defining my coils with hair products like Eco Style Olive Oil Styling Gel and the Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioning Repair Cream or wearing protective styles like twists and box braids using hair extensions.
My natural hair journey has been a process of discovery. I've gained a deeper understanding of my hair's texture and learned how to nurture it. Experimenting with different products has helped me find what works best, and I've developed a routine that suits my hair's needs. It's still an ongoing process, and there's still much to learn!
